"Why should we consider you for this role" ?
OBJECTIVE: The Design Developer's role is to interpret Microsofts Design Systems into interactive UI on Xbox.
ACTION: I worked closely with the visual design teams from both xBox and Windows to emulate their designs into code and had regular reviews with both teams.
RESULTS: Using a well established style system and my own design skillset helped me design responsive, easy to use, and on-brand interfaces.
Xbox Music, Video, & (in Beta: Remix + Reading) Apps
My interfaces and interactions were reviewed by both design and development teams. I gained valuable insights in agile development and the challenges of translating designs into code.
Xbox Music, Video, & (in Beta: Remix + Reading) Apps
OBJECTIVE: I was asked to design the interaction, display and experience of new features in the Coverage Map.
ACTION: I noticed T-Mobile's Design System had already been interpreted into CSS so I delivered the designs using html, css, and js and they were reviewed and merged into production code instead of interpereted from a Design File.
RESULTS: Combining code and visual reviews and deliveries into one delivery cut production time in half.
T-Mobile Coverage Map App
Here's a few prototype interfaces and an experience deck for user flows, that I built to help communicate changes and new features with the engineering and product teams.

I also created a tool that enabled other designers to build prototypes without coding. (Pre-GPT) This enabled Rapid Prototyping for the whole design team.

OBJECTIVE: Redesign the experience of setting up a Bose Smart Speaker to include Alexa, Google Assistant, Spotify.
ACTION: Bose's 1st cloud-based product setup required working with engineering to include UCD requirements as they chose technologies to safe-guard User Experience.
RESULTS: Delivered a Product Setup experience that was noticably better than the previous year and easily scaled to include Home Theater, Headphones, and AR Sunglasses.
Bose Smart; Speaker, Headphone, & Soundbar Setup UX
OBJECTIVE: Design an onboarding experience for Bose Augmented Reality Sunglasses that showcases their capabilities and sets up the user for successful use.
ACTION: Ran Design Sprints and Workshops with our app and marketing teams, until we defined the best scenerios, then coded an iOS application for it, including connecting to sensors, feedback in the app, and network connectivity.
RESULTS: The Immersive AR Sunglasses experience we designed aptly educated the user, while wow'ing them with the 3D Psycho-acoustic capabilities of their new Frames.

OBJECTIVE: Research & Design a baby monitor that noticably improves the lives of young families.
ACTION: We ran a qualitative ethnographic study, a quantitative "Video Journal" study, and many design sprints to test emerging trends for actionable findings. I also built clickable prototypes, wrote interview questions, took notes from interviews, and helped synthesize findings.
RESULTS: Our project provided valuable insights into the "Jobs To Be Done" of young families and helped Bose create a far more customer-focused product than it's competitors in the market.

OBJECTIVE: As Head of Experience at Point Road, I led research and design sprints to develop viable, desirable, and feasible applications for our patented technologies.
ACTION: Our R&D team enabled rapid testing. I then designed interfaces and collaborated with developers to finalize the experience.
RESULTS: We launched several products during my time, most notably a low-UI COVID detector, which had a timely impact in safeguarding first responders.

After research completed it was time to focus on shipping our product, including designing the Quick Start Guide for customers and an interaction guide for our product and customer service teams. One "clutch" finding from research was that our button states weren't aligned to common Camera UI, this update increased usability Ten-fold.
Owl Labs - Whiteboard Camera Product Setup Design
OBJECTIVE: We knew a lot about Product Setup in Offices: But very little about Product Setup in Schools.
ACTION: I created and lead a 2 week user-study in a public High school in NH to learn the "Jobs To Be Done" for teachers who use video conferencing in the classrom.
RESULTS: We adjusted the product setup design to align to environmental, network, and usage factors that we hadn't considered, which raised adoption rate an estimated 30-50% over previously tested solutions.

OBJECTIVE: Redesign the Appliance Repair Triage Experience to include the support of Artificial Intelligence.
ACTION: I interviewed Geek Squad employees and customers to find the best practices that lead to efficient repairs, then incorporated those findings into our triage Q&A tool, that informed employees of the best action to take for repairs.
RESULTS: The new AI-enabled Triage Tool reduced employee errors in assesments, part orders, and wasted repair-trips by over 35%.
Best Buy - Geek Squad AI Service Assistant
OBJECTIVE: Guide customers through a telehealth visit for the assessment of their need for a wearable Continuos Glucose Monitor.
ACTION: Participated in Glucose Monitor User Research, Interviewed doctors, and designed experiences for requesting a consultation, attending a telehealth visit, and 1st time use of a CGM monitor.
RESULTS: We made the often shrouded and difficult process of CGM assesment easier than in-person and launched telehealth as a new capability at Best Buy.

OBJECTIVE: Research found that the largest barrier to entry for buying a Hearing Aid wasn't the expense, it was knowing if you needed one.
ACTION: I ran a two week competitive analysis of the process through an audiologist then designed a hearing aid shopping flow online that mirrored that experience but removed making an appointment, made assesment instant, and suggested products based on your hearing test results.
RESULTS: We delivered a "best-in-class" experience that removed many of the blockers for hearing assesment and informs the user what hearing aid to purchase based on the test results.

OBJECTIVE: During interviews the most common issue reported was transporting bicycles to and from the shop.
ACTION: We saw this as an opportunity to pick up where "brick n' motor" retailers were falling short, designing pick-up into our business model. Then I coded a web app for booking, scheduling, and payment.
RESULT: We maintained a 24 hr turn-around on repairs all summer, when the competition all had a 2-4 week wait!
Our Online Booking System allows users to send us photos of the broken parts. Then they get a quote and ETA in minutes.
With no physical location, we had to maintain a solid online marketing presence. Madeline and I created lots of rich media content for social platforms including creating a "buzz" with our "hipster bike mechanic" GPT Chat-bot in Facebook groups and in DIY repair forums.
Lloyd the Mechanic Lloyd was trained on all things hipster.. including being a bike mechanic.
Meet Nosimaj, a GPT chatbot that I created to see if I could build a better designer than myself. [spoiler alert] AI is (currently) a better assistant than a leader. So, for now, I'm #notafraid
